Make A Pretty Poinsettia Pillow (any time of the year!) 01.27.2011
Poinsettia!? Yep, that's what I said! But it's not Christmas anymore (that's what you're thinking... I can tell). But, guys! I forgot to post this last month, and I really liked it, and I really wanted to, and I meant to. *sads* Besides, this pillow is so flippin' cute that you could make it in any color and it would suit any season of the year. Just think, a baby blue pillow cover with a pale yellow flower... cute! Or, maybe a sage green pillow cover and a cream colored flower... love it! What about a burlap pillow cover and an orange flower... does that say Fall or what? See what I'm sayin'?
I found the tutorial for this pillow from the amazing Centasional Girl last month and I HAD to make it. Kate will show you exactly how she did so that you can make one too - so go check it out!
All you really need to do is make a very simple pillow case, any size that you like. Find some felt and paper, then freehand the petal shape onto the piece of paper. It doesn't have to be perfect, just draw one and when you're happy with it's shape, cut it out and use that as the template for making the felt petals. For the center button, you can pick up a button cover kit at any craft store, or probably any dollar store for really cheap, and they're very easy to make.
Make sure you head over to Centsational Girl for way more detailed instructions and more photos. She even has one that's NOT red and white, promise!

Wow - this is awsome! Thanks for pointing us over to Censational Girl (and the non-red-one is stunning - and easier to infiltrate into the boyfriend's apartment!). Thanks and a great day Linda

Hi! I'm so thrilled that you came by today and linked up this fabulous pillow to my Inspiration Friday party! It is one of my favorite that I have seen in blogland and I especially love the idea of trying out different colors so you can have one all year round. So creative! Hope to see more of you in the future! Vanessa
Hi! Thanks for stopping by Money Saving Momma today! I always wanted to be crafty and artistic, but just can't...I love your blog and can watch you and all your beautiful projects! Happy to meet you!!
Great project! It would be neat if you did it with, say pink felt, for a Spring alternative. - The Tablescaper

Very nice! Don't worry about posting about it after Christmas, because people might need time to get around to making one. Doesn't sound too expensive to make actually. No doubt you could adapt the design or vary the stencil for the felt.
Very beautiful, thanks for coming by my blog I am now following you! You have a lot of beautiful creations I would love it if you would stop by again for my Monday linky party and link up! Crystal
This is an impressive idea and project. This pillow can be displayed in the living room especially during christmas season.
